WBO Africa Super Welterweight Champion, Patrick Allotey has been banned for 6 months as punishment for assaulting a Kotoko supporter during the teams clash against Hearts of Oak a couple of weeks ago.

In a video that went viral, the boxer was captured having a confrontation with a supporter named Michael Siaw who was jubilating. He goes on to throw punches and ends up giving the supporter a deep cut wound very close to his eye.

The boxer was subsequently dragged before the disciplinary committee of the GBA on Wednesday to give his account of what happened. At the end of the meeting, the GBA has revoked the license of Patrick Allotey for the next six months.

A statement signed by GBA president Peter Zwennes said, “Following the hearing, the GBA found you liable on your own plea and has imposed a six (6) months suspension of your professional boxing license as the appropriate sanction. The suspension takes effect from today the 6th day of February 2020”.

It added, “The GBA will notify the sanctioning bodies about this development and you are to comply accordingly”.

Meanwhile, the case is still with the Police and Patrick Allotey could further receive additional punishment for his misconduct.
