Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has rubbished claims that there is a problem with the Manchester United squad after midfielder Fred claimed that the players were not sticking together.

Fred’s comment came when the team was in Spain for their winter break but his manager has dismissed the claims on his return to Carrington.

“This group sticks together, don’t worry about that,’ said the United boss. ‘I haven’t seen the interview or don’t understand it, I’ve seen him sat there in his kitchen.

“Fred knows this group wants to give everything together. I don’t know how to interpret what he said but I’ve got no issues with Fred and no issues at all with the group,” Solskjaer said.

Fred’s comments were all the more surprising because he has played a greater role in recent weeks in the absence of Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay with Solskjaer admitting that they were lacking a lot at the moment.

“We are lacking a lot right now. First of all, we need to figure out things on the pitch. We are lacking creativity, especially in midfield,” Ole added.

United gets back to action on Monday in a tie against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as they seek to boost their Champions League chances.
